Origin
The setting up of this chapter is considered very important to Longsho as it holds the vision of His Holiness The Dalai Lama. In 2001, Longsho leaders got opportunity to meet with His Holiness The Dalai Lama, where His Holiness expressed his wish for Longsho to work in the Northeast region of India. Tibetans there are much assimilated into local environment that couldn’t speak Tibetan properly. Since then, efforts are made to establish a chapter there. Few traveling camps and feasibility study were conducted however due to unavailability of fund, the main work was passed on from one batch to another. Finally during the forth term under Presidentship of Jayang Dorjee, the northeast chapter was set up on October 2008 with funding assistance from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
Activities
