Origin
Dickeyling Longsho was set up in 2004 during Tsering Phandok and Tenzin Namsay’s term. There are so many Tibetan schools in and around Dickeyling Tibetan refugee settlements namely CST Mussoorie, CST Rajpur, CST Herbertpur, CST Clementon, Homes Mussoorie, Homes Rajpur, STSA Dickeyling and STSA Ponta sahib. Since Longsho is targeting schools children to inspire, incorporate and preserve rich Tibetan cultural identity, new chapter was set up there. However after two terms (4 years), the Dickeyling Longsho discontinued as many members moved out to other places for personal reasons. However, we are optimistic and still planning to re-establish chapter there. We are looking for a committed local youths to manage the office there.
Activities
During the three terms Dickeyling Longsho has conducted four residential winter training camps and other social activities like school tuitions. Four of the leaders were sent to U.K for training and cultural exchange. We so far don’t have detail data of their past activities. We will update it as soon as we get. We request all leaders of Dickeyling Longsho to contact us if you have any information.
Members
Dickeyling Longsho has two type of members, one is the office workers, another is volunteer leaders. So far more than 20 volunteer youth leaders have served in Dickeyling Longsho, however due to unavailability of membership database, some of the members are yet unknown. Besides many of the even known members are yet out of touch due to unavailability of contact address. We request all our leaders to submit their names update their email addresses through contacting us.
Longsho request all our past members to always keep in touch with us and stay as one big family. Where ever we are, our life long commitment the vision of His Holiness The Dalai Lama in preserving Tibetan cultural identity should not die out. Your support and mail will encourage us to do more.
